PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrode active material having high discharge capacity or a high capacity maintenance factor.SOLUTION: An electrode active material contains a clathrate compound and a carbonaceous substance. The clathrate compound includes a crystal lattice and a guest substance. The guest substance is included in the crystal lattice. The carbonaceous material is dispersed in the electrode active material. A content percentage of the carbonaceous substance in the electrode active material is 0.2 to 4 mass %.
