发明名称 Process of treating animal fodder
摘要 Animal fodder, e.g. grain and grain offals, green foods, roots and other vegetables, and waste human food products, are dried in a reducing atmosphere, inoculated or activated with enzymes or bacteria, incubated or digested to reduce the hydrion concentration, and then dried to suspend the activity of the enzymes or bacteria without destroying them. In an example, grass which has been cut fine is fed in a continuous stream into a drying apparatus at a temperature between 15 and 300 DEG C., through which a stream of carbon dioxide or nitrogen is drawn or blown. The dried product is ground and sprayed with a culture of bacillus, e.g. bacillus prodigiosus tullensi or bacillus proto SS 5 until the moisture content is approximately 30 to 50 per cent. The fodder is now incubated at a temperature not exceeding 35 DEG C., until the pH value is reduced to about 4. The product is then dried to suspend the activity of the bacilli without destroying them. According to the Provisional Specification, an oxidizing atmosphere may be used for the first drying stage, particularly when treating potatoes. Yeasts and bacillus acidi lactici are also specified as suitable for use in the second stage of the process.
