PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and system capable of accurately measuring grain size of a ground material in which there are various grain sizes of granular materials, in a short time.SOLUTION: A predetermined amount of a ground material S in which there are various grain sizes is mounted in a container 51 without a lid, and the container 51 is excited for dispersing the predetermined amount of the ground material S to a whole bottom face of the container 51, then, a dispersion image G of the ground material in the container 51 is imaged from above the container 51, then, based on the dispersion image G, grain size P(d) of the ground material S is measured. Preferably, the container is excited so that, the predetermined amount of the ground material S mounted on the container 51 is dispersed on the whole bottom face with uniform thickness.
