PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recycling method capable of easily separating transition metal from a substrate with transition metal in a recyclable form.SOLUTION: A recycling method for a substrate type thin film solar cell in which a reverse side electrode layer made of transition metal, a light absorption layer, and a transparent conductive film are formed in order on the substrate includes: a preparation process for preparing a substrate with transition metal formed by transition metal being exposed on the surface; a heat treatment process for subjecting the substrate with transition metal to heat treatment in an oxygen-containing atmosphere; and a removal process for removing the transition metal on the substrate oxidized by the heat treatment process from the substrate.
