Embodiments of the invention include a method for displaying stacks of photos in a timeline on a user display. The timeline and/or position of the stacks of photos may be translated in time and/or the granularity of the time may be changed in response to a gesture from a user received through a user interface such as, for example, a touchscreen.

1. A computing device comprising:
a touchscreen configured to display rendered media and translate interactions with a user into gesture signals; a memory; and a processor communicatively coupled with the touchscreen and the memory, the processor configured to:
render a rendered display having a plurality of stacks of photos arranged with respect to a timeline;provide the rendered display to the touchscreen;receive a first gesture signal from the touchscreen;in response to receiving the first gesture signal, change a granularity of the timeline in the first rendered display;provide the rendered display with the change in granularity to the touchscreen;receive a second gesture signal from the touchscreen;in response to receiving the second touch gesture signal, translate the timeline in the first rendered display; andprovide the rendered display with the translation in the timeline to the touchscreen.
