Hydrophobic Diacrylamide Compound

A silyl protected diacrylamide compound is described. A method of forming such a compound includes mixing a silylation reagent with a hydroxylated diamine compound under first reactive conditions to form a product in a first solution, separating the product from the first solution, and mixing the product with acryloyl chloride under second reactive conditions in a second solution to form a silyl protected diacrylamide compound.

1. A method of forming a polymer, the method comprising:
mixing in a hydrophobic phase, a monomer and a compound of the formula: or monosilylated derivative thereof, wherein R4, R5, or R6 are independently selected from alkyl, heteroalkyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, acyl, aryl, ether derivatives thereof, or a combination thereof, and R1, R2, R3, R7, R8, or R9 are independently selected from alkyl, heteroalkyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, acyl, aryl, ether derivatives thereof, or a combination thereof, the monomer and the compound polymerizing to form the polymer.
