A rear-view verification device comprises a display device and a camera device. The display device is attached to a part of the automobile in front of the driver's seat in the interior of the automobile. The camera device is coupled to the display device and is capable of capturing images to the rear of the automobile. The display device includes a horizontally-long shaped display and a first control unit which is coupled to the display. The first control unit causes images to be displayed on the display on the basis of an image signal from the camera device. Here, the first control unit causes images displayed on both sides, in the longitudinal direction, of the display to be displayed wider in the longitudinal direction than images displayed in the central portion, in the longitudinal direction, of the display.
