449,598. Change - speed gearing. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES., Unterturkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. Dec. 27, 1934, No. 30899/35. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1933. Divided out of 449,540. [Class 80 (ii)] In change-speed gearing having three pairs of constant-mesh toothed gears d<1>, d<2> and el, e2 and f<1>, f<2>, the changes are effected by changing the engagement of two double-ended dog clutches g and h, the clutch teeth of the clutch g having bevelled end faces as described in Specification 298,186, [Class 80 (ii)], and the clutch teeth of the clutch h having square ends coacting with synchronizing means. There is preferably a quick-throw-over control for the clutch g which makes changes between two highest speeds. In the arrangement described, the double clutch h has a synchronizing device at one end acting frictionally with clutching effect, and a synchronizing device at the other end acting with a braking effect, all as described in Specification 449,540. |
