<p>An oxidation catalyst for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine and an exhaust system comprising the oxidation catalyst, where the oxidation catalyst comprises a first washcoat region 1 for adsorbing NOx, a second washcoat region 2 for oxidising nitric oxide (NO) and a substrate 3 having an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein the first washcoat region has a zeolite catalyst containing a noble metal comprising palladium on a small pore zeolite and wherein the second washcoat region comprises platinum (Pt) on a support material that comprises a refractory metal oxide. Preferably the noble metal further comprises a second metal of platinum (Pt), rhodium (Rh), gold (Au), silver (Ag), iridium (Ir) or ruthenium (Ru). The zeoilite catalyst may have at least 1% by weight of the noble metal located inside its pores. A vehicle or apparatus and a method of treating an exhaust are also claimed.</p> |
