<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound suitable for a photoelectric conversion material, capable of improving photoelectric conversion efficiency without deteriorating conventional characteristics even when the compound is added as a third component or with a third or higher component to a material for a bulk-heterojunction organic thin film solar cell having both p-type and n-type organic semiconductor materials, (specifically P3HT/PCBM), and to provide a photoelectric conversion material, a photoelectric conversion layer, a photoelectric conversion element and an organic thin film solar cell produced using the novel compound. <P>SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion material is obtained by adding (A) a compound represented by the following general formula (1) to (B) a p-type organic semiconductor material and (C) an n-type organic semiconductor material.
