The device has a guide rail (9) that is secured on an assembly bridge (1) in vertical orientation. A carriage (10) carrying a component (3) is guided on guide rail in sliding movable manner. A limit stop (11) is mounted on guide rail beneath the carriage in a height-adjustable manner. The guide rail is divided into upper and lower portions that are connected to each other via pivot connection (14) having pivot axis parallel to longitudinal direction of guide rail. An independent claim is included for an assembly bridge.
