PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat sensitive recording medium including a high recording characteristic with respect to an optical character (or mark) reading device having a reading wavelength region in a near infrared region, and excellent in plasticizer resistance and light resistance of a recording part.SOLUTION: The heat sensitive recording medium includes a heat sensitive recording layer containing a leuco dye and a coloring agent on a support body. The heat sensitive recording medium includes a specific leuco dye which reacts with the coloring agent and forms a dye having absorbency in the near infrared region, and includes N-p-toluenesulfonyl-N'-3-(p-toluenesulfonyloxy) phenylurea as the coloring agent. Preferably, the heat sensitive recording medium includes an undercoat layer containing organic hollow particles between the support body and the heat sensitive recording layer. |
