<p>Disclosed are an organic EL element and an organic EL illumination device with which longer working life and improved brightness can be obtained, while changes of colour temperature and colour tone are suppressed. An organic electroluminescent element is provided with: a transparent electrode layer and electrode layer paired with this; and a light-emitting layer including, between this one pair of electrode layers, a degradable light-emitting layer containing an organic electroluminescent material that is relatively easily degraded and a degradation-resistant light-emitting layer including an organic electroluminescent material that is relatively resistant to degradation. In addition, this organic electroluminescent element has carrier adjustment means for making the amount of carriers that migrate to the electrode layer on the side of the degradable light-emitting layer fewer than the amount of carriers that migrate to the electrode layer on the side of the degradation-resistant light-emitting layer, without producing recombination in the light-emitting layer.</p> |
