The nut element (10) has a punching section formed with a circulating groove (26) underneath a sheet metal contact surface (20) and a punching edge (28) at a free front side. The punching edge is spaced from limitation of the groove adjacent to the edge by a peripheral surface with an axial level, which corresponds to 50 percent of plate thickness. Radial wall thickness of the punching section within area of the free front side from outer side of the section to nominal diameter of a thread corresponds to thickness between 1.2-1.8 and 1.5 times of sheet metal part thickness. An independent claim is also included for an assembly part comprising recess and a bead.
