Scanning a clothed human subject 14 using a first scanner 10 and a second scanner 12. The first scanner 10 uses a source of radiation that may be non-ionising and is adapted for scanning soft tissue surfaces hidden by the clothing on the subject 14. The second scanner 12 uses a second source of radiation that is tissue penetrating and may be x-ray radiation and is directed more towards the torso of the subject 14 than towards other parts of the body. The field of illumination of the second scanner 12 preferably excludes at least one of a head and a limb of the subject 14 and this may be possible by providing a shielding, whereas the first scanner 10 preferably scans the torso and at least the head and one of the limbs of the subject 14. Preferably a feature is identified in the first scan by comparing the scan data with comparator data. A composite image in the form of an overlay may be provided using a combination of the first scanner data and the second scanner data. |
