A safety device (D) is fitted to a seat (SI) of a vehicle and comprises a housing (B) housing an air bag (SG), comprising an open front face (FV) and a rear face (FR), opposite its front face (FV), and able to be secured to a framework (AR) situated in a lateral part (PL) of the backrest (DS) of the seat (SI), and a cover (CV) secured to the housing (B) in a position that conceals the front face (FV) thereof. The cover (CV) comprises an internal face (FI) fitted in a chosen zone (ZC) with first securing means (MS1) able to collaborate with second securing means (MS2) which are defined on a predefined part (P1) of a wall (PA) of an actuator (AC) secured to this framework (AR) so as to secure the cover (CV) to the wall (PA) while at the same time concealing the predefined part (P1) of this wall (PA).
