A flameproof coupling assembly 300 for a fluid cooling system comprising a flameproof housing 304 having an inlet and an outlet aperture 110, 112 rust resistant inlet and outlet sleeves 114, 116 mounted in the inlet and outlet apertures, a fluid cooling conduit 306 in the housing having an inlet and an outlet, coupling members 314, 318 mounted to the cooling conduit for coupling the conduit to the inlet and outlet. The coupling members slidably engage the rust resistant sleeves to form a fireproof coupling. Preferably the inlet coupling member and the rust resistant inlet sleeve form a clearance fit. The rust resistant sleeve may be an aluminium and bronze composite. Preferably there is at least one retaining bracket 118 that retains the rust resistant sleeve and the rust resistant sleeves include a flange 124, 126 that abuts an inner surface of the flameproof housing. |
