<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize downsizing and weight saving in a head-mounted type display device. <P>SOLUTION: A head-mounted type display device 1A comprises: an image formation unit 2 that emits first polarized light representing a left-eye image and first polarized light representing a right-eye image in a chronological order; a liquid crystal panel 3 that is driven in sync with the image formation unit 2 and converts one first polarized light selected from the first polarized light representing the left-eye image and the first polarized light representing the right-eye image emitted from the image formation unit 2 into second polarized light; and a light guide unit 6 that includes a polarization separation face 14 having characteristics of being penetrated with one polarized light selected from the first polarized light and the second polarized light emitted from the liquid crystal panel 3 and of reflecting the other polarized light. The light guide unit 6 guides the polarized light having penetrated the polarization separation face 14 to one of two eyes of an observer and the other polarized light reflected at the polarized light separation face to the other of the two eyes of the observer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
