Adsorbent conjugate comprising a hydropolymer component covalently bound to a polyamine component, wherein the hydropolymer component is a substantially water-insoluble polysaccharide crosslinked with 2-hydroxypropylene moieties, the hydropolymer component forms a three-dimensional matrix in which the polyamine component is distributed, and wherein the polyamine component is a polyamine exhibiting terminal hydroxyl moieties, and the number of hydroxyl moieties is in excess of the number of amino groups.
