<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type fluid machine in which a stepped part can easily be formed on an end plate corresponding to the shoulder part of a spiral lap while alleviating stress concentration in the shoulder part of the spiral lap. <P>SOLUTION: A scroll compressor includes: the shoulder part 15D which is formed on the edge of a fixed spiral lap 14B or a turning spiral lap 15B and the height of which is low on the central part side thereof and becomes high on the outer end side along a spiral; and the stepped part 14E which is formed on one side face of the turning or fixed end plate 14A and made to correspond to the shoulder part 15D of the edge of the spiral lap and the height of which is high on the central part side thereof and becomes low on the outer end side along the spiral. The shoulder part 15D has a plate-shaped reinforced part 31 the one end of which is connected to the edge of the spiral lap on the central part side of the spiral and the other end of which is connected to the spiral lap on the outer end side of the spiral.
