<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool which reduces chips and easily and economically cuts a foamed material. <P>SOLUTION: The machine tool 1 includes a base 11 for supporting a workpiece W movably in the X axis direction, a portal frame 12, a saddle 13 provided in the portal frame 12 movably in the Y axis direction, a ram 14 provided in this saddle 13 movably in the Z axis direction, a main shaft 3 rotatably supported in this ram 14, a tool 5 provided at the tip of the ram 14 and having an electric heating wire 53, and a control device 6 for controlling the driving of these. A weight is installed in the lower end of the electric heating wire 53.
