A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. A control method according to an embodiment of the present invention which supports host-based card emulation (HCE), includes a step of downloading a first application related to a near field communications (NFC) card and information related to the first application, and a step of processing first information related to the application when a predetermined condition is satisfied, based on an NFC process mode and second information in the information related to the application. The predetermined condition includes one of a condition of installing the downloaded first application or a condition of detecting a user command for executing the set first application aft installing the downloaded first application. The NFC process mode is one of an off-host mode that the NFC control part is based on a root of routing third information with an SE, or an on-host mode that the NFC control part is based on a root of routing the third information with the host framework.
