<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swipe type magnetic card reading device which is adaptable for an automatic vending machine installed outdoors, and which is easy for a user to perform the reading operation of a magnetic card. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic card reading device includes: a card insertion port formed in a recess formed at the upper part of the front face of the device; a slit-shaped card passage linearly formed in a vertical direction such that an upstream end is communicated with the card insertion port and a downstream end reaches the lower face of the main body of the device; and a shutter with which almost the full length of the front face of the card passage is covered so as to be freely opened and closed. A guide face is formed between the recess and the card passage. The shutter is formed with a guide rib for guiding a magnetic card when it opens, and configured to be energized to cover the card passage in a standby state such that the end of the card insertion port side is butted to the guide face, and configured to be opened in the front of the magnetic card reading device while being butted to one face of the magnetic card when the magnetic card is inserted into the card insertion port. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
