The present invention relates to a process cartridge having a front side and an inner side. The process cartridge comprises: an image holding unit assembly, which is inserted into and separated from a predetermined assembly accommodating unit in insertion and separation direction which follows a linear line connecting the inner side to the front side of the assembly accommodating unit, and which includes an image holding unit in which a latent image is maintained; a developing assembly including a developer holding unit in which a developer is maintained and a guide unit extending in the insertion and separation direction; a pressurizing member which pressurizes the developing assembly to pressurize and transfer the developer holding unit of the developing assembly toward both ends in the longitudinal direction of the image holding unit of the image holding unit assembly; a disconnecting and connecting device which is installed on the front side in the insertion and separation direction of the image holding assembly, and transfers the image holding unit assembly and the developing assembly in a direction to separate the image holding unit assembly and the developing assembly against pressurizing force of the pressurizing member, by being operated in a predetermined direction; and a gap forming device which forms a larger gap between the image holding unit and developer holding unit on the inner side larger compared to before drawing the image holding unit assembly against the pressurizing force of the pressurizing member, as some inner part in the insertion and separation direction of the image holding unit assembly comes into contact with the guide unit, when drawing the image holding unit assembly in the insertion and separation direction in a state that the developing assembly is separated from the image holding assembly by the disconnecting and connecting device. |
