a communication unit configured to perform near field wireless communication with a communication partner; a first selection unit configured to select data to be communicated from a plurality of pieces of data; and an instruction unit configured to instruct the communication partner to perform processing determined based on a type of the selected data and at least one piece of processing performable by the communication partner as processing to be performed on the selected data without the apparatus receiving an operation for performing the processing on the selected data from a user after the communication partner is detected by the near field wireless communication performed by the communication unit, in a case where the communication partner is detected by the near field wireless communication performed by the communication unit while the processing to be performed on the selected data is not specified.
