A method and apparatus provide an Internet service in a mobile communication terminal. The method includes determining a user interest subject from user data existing within the mobile communication terminal, collecting service items through network access, determining a subject for each of the collected service items, determining relevance between the user interest subject and each of the service items, and recommending a service item according to the relevance.

1. A method for providing an Internet service in a mobile communication terminal, the method comprising:
detecting a user interest subject from text of user data stored within the mobile communication terminal; collecting service items through an access to a network; detecting service item subjects for the service items; determining similarities between the user interest subject and the service item subjects; determining ranks of the service item subjects as a function of the similarities; displaying the service items according to the ranks of the service item subjects; and responsive to one of the service items being selected, displaying detailed information related to the selected service item.
