The present invention relates to a composition for treating hepatic fibrosis or liver cirrhosis using asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGR1) or jacalin. A composition of the present invention can be helpfully used for treating hepatic fibrosis or liver cirrhosis by confirming significant reduction in expression of alpha smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) as a marker of activated hepatic stellate cells (HSC) when overexpressing ASGR1 or treating jacalin.
