Dynamically installing image processing

Methods, computer-readable media, and systems are provided for dynamically installing an image processing filter. One method for dynamically installing an image processing filter includes starting to obtain image information by infrastructure of an image processing device and processing the obtained image information with an application. After starting to obtain image information, receiving an operating system (OS) application programming interface (API) allowing just-in-time (JIT) bytecode to be executed as a filter during processing the obtained image information.

1. A network-connected server comprising:
one or more processors; and one or more memory resources storing instructions for facilitating image processing by an image processing device, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the server to: receive image data from the image processing device, wherein a reference tag is included in the image data, the reference tag indicating specified just-in-time (JIT) bytecode required to complete processing of a print job or a scan job; using the reference tag, locate the specified JIT bytecode in the one or more memory resources; using the specified JIT bytecode, transform the image data to enable the image processing device to execute the print job or the scan job at runtime; and send the transformed image data to the image processing device for execution of the print job or the scan job.
