<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video output device capable of controlling ON/OFF of an external apparatus in accordance with a power supply state of the external apparatus before audio output switching, and a power supply control method of the external apparatus connected to the video output device.SOLUTION: A television receiver 2 includes a display 13, a receiver 16 for communicating with an AV amplifier 3 to which a speaker 3a is connectable, a speaker 14 and a control part 11. The control part 11 stores in a memory 12 power supply state information indicating a power-on/power-off state of the AV amplifier 3 in the case where a first audio output switching instruction from the speaker 14 to the speaker 3a is received. When a second audio output switching instruction from the speaker 3a to the speaker 14 is received, on the basis of the power supply state information stored in the memory 12, the control part 11 transmits a power supply control signal for powering off the AV amplifier 3 in the case where the power supply state information indicates the power-off state of the AV amplifier 3, to the AV amplifier 3 via the receiver 16.</p> |
