PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that can properly detect the temperature of heating means to prevent deterioration and breakage of the heating means.SOLUTION: There is provided a fixing device that includes heating means including a heating source, rotatable pressure means that is pressed against the heating means to form a nip, and temperature detection means for detecting the temperature of the heating means, where a shielding member composed of a substantially flat plate is arranged between the temperature detection means and the heating means to be orthogonal to a line connecting the center of a temperature detection element included in the temperature detection means and the center of the heating means; at least one of the shielding member corresponding to the temperature detection means is formed of an infrared transmission material; and droplet prevention means is provided on a surface, which is at least a part of the shielding member and at least on the heating means side.
