Disclosed are a method to regenerate a diesel particulate filter (DPF), and the DPF regenerated by the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method to regenerate the DPF comprises: (a) a temperature increasing step (S110) of warming up an engine until a temperature of cooling water becomes a predetermined temperature; (b) a regeneration mode switching step (S120) of switching a mode of the DPF into a regeneration mode if the temperature of the cooling water increased through the temperature increasing step is a predetermined temperature (T1) or higher; (c) a regeneration step (S130) of burning PM (particular harmful substances) collected by the DPF using heat of the cooling water at a desirable temperature; (d) a cooling step (S140) of cooling the hot DPF of which regeneration is completed through the regeneration step; and (e) a switching step (S150) of switching the mode of the DPF into a normal mode if the temperature of an exhaust gas through a DPF outlet is a predetermined temperature (T2) or lower.
