Provided is a polarized light irradiation apparatus which can obtain appropriate properties of a polarizing axis in an irradiation range. The polarized light irradiation apparatus includes a light source (5), a filter (20), a polarizing device (25), a polarizing device maintaining unit (26), and a light blocking unit (30). The light source (5) emits light. The filter (20) is irradiated with the light, emitted from the light source (5) to emit UV rays. The polarizing device (25) is installed on a side facing the light source (5) of the filter (20), receives the UV rays, and emits polarized light. The polarizing device maintaining unit (26) maintains the polarizing device (25) and has an opening (27), which transmits the polarized light emitted from the polarizing device (25). The light blocking plate (30) is installed on a side of the polarizing device maintaining unit (26) which faces the light source (5) and encircles the opening (28). |
