PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone apparatus which enables even a single telephone set installed in home to implement a function for automatically re-originating a call.SOLUTION: When an incoming call is detected by a call control part 102, an automatic call origination determination part 105 stores a telephone number of an origination source of the incoming call, determines whether the same telephone number is included in a telephone directory part 107 and, if there is the same telephone number, instructs a timer/time measuring part 106 to start measuring a time. When the call control part 102 detects that the origination source abandons the detected incoming call, the automatic call origination determination part 105 requests the time measured until abandoning the incoming call to the timer/time measuring part 106, determines whether the measured time is within a preset time and, if the measured time is within the preset time, instructs the timer/time measuring part 106 to start an abandoned call answering timer. After the abandoned call answering timer is started, when an answering operation is detected from an off-hook detection part 108 before the abandoned call answering timer expires, the automatic call origination determination part 105 instructs an automatic call origination part 109 to automatically originate a call to the origination source number.
