PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the rolling efficiency of a hot rolling line by accurately calculating a slab extraction pitch from a heating furnace without needing much labor.SOLUTION: A method of controlling a heating furnace includes: a first extraction pitch calculation step S1 of calculating the extraction time of a slab from a heating furnace required for heating the slab in the furnace to an extraction target temperature, and calculating the extraction pitch of the following material being a slab to be next extracted from the heating furnace on the basis of a calculation result; a second extraction pitch calculation step S2 of calculating the extraction pitch of the following material on the basis of the rolling time of a preceding material being the slab previously extracted from the heating furnace; and an extraction pitch determination step S3 of determining as the extraction pitch of the following material, the longer extraction pitch among the pitches calculated in the steps S1 and S2. |
