The present invention relates to a mobile terminal having a camera formed on a main body, and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal comprises: a terminal main body; a camera module disposed on one surface of the main body; and a control unit for determining whether a foreign substance is attached to the camera module by using a preview image captured by the camera module, when the camera module is activated, and outputting notification information notifying that the foreign substance is attached to the camera module based on the determination result, by using at least one among visual, tactile, and auditory manners. When there is a mark made by cosmetics or finger prints on the camera module, a corner of a subject collapses, or a blur occurs in some portions of the preview image, but a user tends to not recognize and overlook the same. However, according to at least one of embodiments of the present invention, when the camera module is activated, it is possible to determine whether a foreign substance is attached to the camera module by using a preview image captured by the camera module, and to output notification information notifying that the foreign substance is attached to the camera module. By using the notification information, the user can recognize whether the camera module is polluted or not. In addition, a camera module in a normal condition can be provided by cleaning the foreign substance attached to the camera module. |
