PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical detection device capable of reading images with high precision, and a program of the optical detection device.SOLUTION: The optical detection device includes: a light-emitting device; a light receiving element; and a margin calculation section. The light-emitting device outputs a beam of light according to a waveform of a drive current. The light receiving element outputs a detection signal of bright or dark according to a received quantity of light. The margin calculation section calculates a difference between a drive value which is the duty ratio of the preset drive current waveform and a changeover value which is the duty ratio of the drive current waveform when the detection signal of the light receiving element changes from bright to dark as an effective margin.
