PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device in which an optical sheet arranged on an emission plane of a transparent materia is hardly flexed and provide a display device including the lighting device.SOLUTION: A lighting device 100 comprises a light source 20; a transparent body 40 for receiving light from the light source 20 and emitting light from an emission plane 43; an optical sheet 60 arranged on the emission plane 43 of the transparent body 40; a frame 120 positioned on the optical sheet 60 and formed with an opening part 120a for passing light passed through the optical sheet 60; a protection film 70c fixed to the frame 120 and oppositely facing against the optical sheet 60 in a normal direction of the emission plane 43; and a protection film 70e fixed to a protrusion part 120b arranged at the frame 120 and oppositely facing against a portion of the transparent body 40 not covered with the optical sheet 60 in the normal direction of the emission plane 43. The lighting device 100 lights up a liquid crystal panel with light from light of the light source 20 passed through the opening part 120a.
