PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device including color gamut correction means capable of implementing correction of a read color gamut without using a test chart, an image forming apparatus and a program.SOLUTION: The image reading device includes: illumination means for illuminating a plurality of reference color portions colored in different reference colors with lighting-control illumination light including a plurality of illumination light beams controlled to different quantities of light; and read means for reading each of the plurality of reference color portions illuminated with the lighting-control illumination light for each of the plurality of illumination light beams and outputting lighting-control image information for each reference color including a plurality of image information items corresponding to the plurality of illumination light beams. On the basis of the lighting-control image information for each reference color outputted from the read means, it is determined whether any abnormality is present in any image information within color gamuts including the plurality of image information items included in the lighting-control image information and, if any abnormality is present, correction information is generated for correcting the image information within a color gamut where the abnormality is present.
