PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that applies a development bias from a single transformer to a toner carrier and a developer carrier and that can perform leakage detection, and an image forming apparatus including the developing device.SOLUTION: A developing device 122 includes a magnetic roller 82, a developing roller 83, and a development bias application part 88. In a development operation, a potential difference of a DC voltage is set between the developing roller 83 and the magnetic roller 82 so as to move a toner from the magnetic roller 82 to the developing roller 83, while AC voltages in opposite phases at the same frequency are applied to the developing roller and the magnetic roller. In a leakage detection operation to detect a value of an AC voltage where leakage between a photoreceptor drum 121 and the developing roller 83 or between the magnetic roller 82 and the developing roller 83 occurs, DC voltages at the same value together with the AC voltages are applied to the developing roller 83 and to the magnetic roller 82. |
