PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate accurate position information of a portable terminal transmitting a unique ID in a position information system.SOLUTION: A position information system 1 comprises a lighting device 2 (beacon transmitter) which transmits a unique ID including position information, and a portable terminal 3 which receives the transmitted unique ID. The lighting device 2 includes an electric wave beacon transmitter 6 which transmits an RWID using an electric wave as a communication medium, and a visible light beacon transmitter which transmits a VLID using visible light as a communication medium. The portable terminal 3 includes an electric wave receiving unit 31 which receives the RWID, and a light receiving unit 32 which receives the VLID. This configuration enables the portable terminal 3 to discriminate accurate position information by using the unique ID of both the RWID and the VLID.
