<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module that can suppress flow-in of heat from a relay board into a mount and a light emitting element while suppressing deterioration of a high frequency characteristic by using the relay board, and a method of manufacturing the optical module.SOLUTION: An optical module has a package 12, an electrical signal input unit 14 for transmitting an electrical signal from the outside of the package 12, a mount 20, a light emitting element 22 on the mount 20, a cooler 18 for cooling the light emitting element 22, a relay board 30 having a dielectric body 30a and a signal line path 30b, one end side of the relay board 30 serving as a first part 30A fixed to the electrical signal input part 14 while the other end side serves as a second part 30B fixed to the mount 20, a first wire 34 for connecting the electrical signal input part 14 and the signal line path 30b, a second wire 36 for connecting the signal line path 30b and the light emitting element 22, and a heat insulating block 32 which is provided between the first part 30A and the electrical signal input part 14 or between the second part 30B and the mount 20 and formed of a material having smaller thermal conductivity than the dielectric body 30a.</p> |
