PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically-driven swivel type construction machine that can eliminate a time lag between a brake release by a brake device and the driving of a swivel motor.SOLUTION: An electrically-driven swivel type construction machine comprises an undercarriage, a superstructure mounted on the undercarriage so that it can swivel, a boom one end of which is rotatably attached on the superstructure, an arm one end of which is rotatably attached to the other end of the boom, a work element one end of which is rotatably attached to the other end of the arm, a brake mechanism for retaining the superstructure, a swivel motor for swiveling and driving the superstructure, state monitoring means for monitoring the state of the brake mechanism, and a control device for detecting a brake release by the brake mechanism on the basis of monitoring by the state monitoring means. The swivel motor does not generate power until the control device detects a brake release. |
