ION EXCHANGE MEMBRANE AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange membrane having excellent electrical characteristics and membrane strength, and having less bubble defect in the interior and surface of the membrane.SOLUTION: An ion exchange membrane contains a wet nonwoven fabric of a vinylon short fiber, and an anionic vinyl alcohol-based block copolymer or a cationic vinyl alcohol-based block copolymer. The wet nonwoven fabric includes an impregnation layer that extends from one surface of the wet nonwoven fabric in a thickness direction thereof and is at least partially impregnated with the ionic copolymer. The ion exchange membrane is expressed as follows: a mean fiber diameter of the fiber is 3-40μm; and a content of a binder fiber is 2-9 mass%.
