PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a woody material capable of producing the woody material having a smooth end surface without performing a smoothing step coating a filler treatment agent on a butt end.SOLUTION: A part of the end portion of a wooden base material 3 is cut off and a folding portion 20 is formed with the remained surface side of the wooden base material 3 by a method for producing a woody material. Then, the woody material 100 is produced by folding the folding portion 20 and being adhered to an end surface 30 after cutting off the wooden base material 3.
