Disclosed is an outdoor fire hydrant formed into the shape of a ball to quickly and stably open and close a fire water passage. According to the present invention, the outdoor fire hydrant comprises: a fire hydrant body having a base part connected to a waterwork pipe arranged underground, a fire water discharging part arranged in the base part in a state where most thereof is exposed to the ground and having an outlet to discharge the fire water, and a cap body arranged in the upper part of the fire water discharging part; and a ball switching part arranged in the fire hydrant body to be rotated to open and close a passage of the fire water introduced through the waterwork pipe. A section of the ball switching part positioned in the base part is formed into the shape of a ball to open and close the fire water passage with the ball shape when the ball switching part is rotated back and forth. The outer circumference surface of the ball switching part except the ball shape is in contact with the inner wall of a part of the upper part of the base part and the inner wall of a switching body support part to successively discharge the fire water introduced through the waterwork pipe via the inside of the ball switching part and the outlet while not being in contact with the inner wall of the fire hydrant body except the outlet. |
