<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emission control device capable of collecting particulate substances well while restricting an increase of pressure loss.SOLUTION: There are provided a honeycomb structure 100 and a cylindrical storage container 21 where the honeycomb structure 100 are stored. The honeycomb structure is constituted to have honeycomb bases 4 with porous partition walls 1 defining and forming a plurality of cells 2. Some cells 2 are inlet seal cells 2b having end portions closed by inlet seals 5 in flowing-in end surfaces 11 of the honeycomb bases 4, the remaining cells 2 are through-pass cells 2a passing from the flowing-in end surfaces 11 toward the flowing-out end surfaces 12, the inlet seal cells 2b and the through-pass cells 2a are arranged to be adjacent to each other. A hydraulic diameter A2 of each of the inlet seal cells 2b is larger than a hydraulic diameter A1 of the through-pass cells 2a at a sectional surface perpendicular to an extending direction of the cells 2. The honeycomb structure 100 is arranged within the storage container 21 in such a way that the flowing-in end surfaces 11 face against a flowing-in inlet 22 and at the same time the flowing-out end surfaces 12 face against a flowing-out outlet 23.</p> |
