Provided is a stirling freezer, wherein a displacer (22) has an inner space filled with gas. A main inflator body (20) houses the displacer (22) so that the displacer can be moved back and forth. The displacer (22) houses in the inner space thereof one or more convection suppression plates (42) for suppressing the convection of the gas. The convection suppression plates are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the lengthwise axis of the displacer. A cooling storage device (38) may be provided in the main inflator body (20) around the displacer (22) so as to be positioned in a prescribed cylindrical region with the center axis thereof being the lengthwise axis of the displacer (22). The convention suppression plates (42) may be provided so as to be in a position corresponding to the prescribed region where the cooling storage device (38) is positioned even when the displacer (22) moves back and forth.
