The present invention addresses the problem of providing a person detection device which enables an improvement in the accuracy of detecting a person from a captured image. In a person detection device (1), a detection window setting unit (12) sets a detection window for a gray scale image. An upper region of the detection window is set as an upper window, and a lower region of the detection window is set as a lower window. An upper body likelihood calculation unit (14A) calculates an upper body likelihood (33A) that the upper window includes the upper body of a person, and an upper body likelihood (43A) that the lower window includes the upper body of the person. The lower body likelihood calculation unit (14B) calculates a lower body likelihood (33B) that the upper window includes the lower body of the person, and a lower body likelihood (43B) that the lower window includes the lower body of the person. A determination unit (15) determines whether or not a pedestrian is present in the detection window on the basis of the upper body likelihoods (33A, 43A) and the lower body likelihoods (33B, 43B). |
