<p>The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device including: a first substrate; a second substrate facing the first substrate; a pair of electric field generating electrodes formed on the first substrate and the second substrate; an alignment pattern formed on an inner surface of either the first substrate or the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystals arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate in a spiral structure where chiral nematic liquid crystal molecules are repetitively twisted with a uniform pitch with respect to a screw axis vertical to a progression direction of light in a voltage off state. The alignment pattern protrudes to correspond to the pitch. According to the present invention, the liquid crystal display device can easily manufacture and stabilize the alignment of the ULH mode liquid crystals without going through extra processes by using the alignment pattern instead of an alignment layer, and has superior liquid crystal heat stability through an even alignment of the liquid crystals.</p> |
