PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-heated consumer spa product heated by a prolonged exothermic chemical reaction for various therapeutic and/or spa applications for applying heat to portions of a person's body.SOLUTION: An exothermically heated apparatus 1100 comprises: an outer layer 1102 forming an open-ended enclosure 1104 capable of receiving a hand or a foot; a heating layer 1108 interior to the enclosure; and an inner layer 1114. The heating layer comprises a first outer fabric layer, an exothermic reaction layer and a second outer fabric layer, where the exothermic layer is activatable when contacted with an activating solution.
